The company said it was introducing the changes gradually and that many Facebook users began to see some of the modifications Thursday afternoon. FBI agents Greer and Peters (Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell) are assigned to the case and before long (the movie is only 90 minutes) their investigation starts peeling back the layers of a vast conspiracy involving the man responsible for the creation of the robots, the corporation building them, the military, and a separatist group promoting a return to human life. I find it even stranger that able-bodied people would choose to spend a nice sunny day (the entire film looks like a beautiful spring day) strapped to a virtual control panel in their darkened bedrooms. Even if I could accept all that, I just can’t buy the hackneyed, clichéd, and even hokey dialogue spun by writers Michael Ferris and John Brancato (known for the inspiring dialogue in classics such as Terminator Salvation and Catwoman ). Their script is so full of inconsistencies it becomes maddening and you find yourself spending more time thinking about the movie’s problems than the “mystery” taking place on screen. If everyone has a surrogate and murders are a thing of the past, wouldn’t a conventional war be as equally obsolete and pointless? Both films involve people living their lives through alternate bodies, but where James Cameron’s film used cutting-edge film technology and an engaging (if not original) story to provide an epic with a message, the themes of human isolation and fear in Surrogates are buried in an inept film more likely to provide chuckles than reflection. click here to read more

What was once an obscure habit, chatting in forums and user groups, became a global passion once a few daring start-ups married the concept of social interaction with the ability to invite friends to join their conversation circles. Facebook users spend the most time with their networking sites, an average of more than 15 hours per week, compared to users of business sites like LinkedIn, who spend an average of 2-3 hours weekly on the social network. In fact, social networks have become so popular that in February 2009 time spent on social networks surpassed that for e-mail for the first time, underscoring the massive shifts taking place in online consumer engagement. In another demonstration of the remarkable power social networks now wield over personal lives, one study published in CyberPsychology and Behavior found that social networks such as Facebook can contribute to lover jealousy. Far from being a mere chat medium, as their Internet discussion forum predecessors were, social networks have completely permeated the fabric of life by allowing participants to share anything, from music to photos to videos to articles, and much more. If there was a watershed moment in marketing in 2008, it was unquestionably the social engagement campaign that propelled a relatively unknown to the presidency of the U. click here to read more

Perhaps most significant is that companies in various industries started to see how social networks can help boost business even in a recession. That’s even true in agribusiness as we’ve seen the rise in the number of farmers and companies employing social media channels to communicate. I would describe a lot of it on the company side as experimental and in some cases perhaps just a token effort as if by having a Twitter account they “get it” and can now get back to “the way we’ve always done things. But there are a growing number of companies (I include ad agencies here) who are finding social media mechanisms enhance their overall communication strategy. I think we’ll see a lot more do so in 2010 and by the end of next year we’ll have a lot more data to show how well these channels are working, even in agribusiness. ZimmComm has had the honor and pleasure to consult with and help in the creation and production of social media for many agribusiness organizations. click here to read more
