At 1:26 Kelly was into that chick so he let her think she was right about it being slang for texting, then he made a “don’t laugh” face.

The problem with Twitter is that people just don’t -get it-. Whenever I introduce the concept to people they just go “Why would I want a service like that?” And I never really have a good answer. It’s weird that such a simple concept can be so hard to explain to people, especially if they’re not into the social aspects of the internet.

Twitter will grow with the college crowd, just as pagers gave way to cell phone usage. With the similarities to texting, in time it will gain more prominence. I also think that Twitter needs to amp up more features and services. Potentially the first one being staying afloat during these tough economic climates. At this point I wouldn’t want to monetize Twitter but maybe use ads of some sort to off set costs.

I think that Twitter could definitely grow within the college demographic. With the ability to send a text message to Twitter to update your status and the growing number of smartphone users (thus including the mobile version of the site), the ease of use and access to Twitter would definitely be something appealing to busy students who still want to let their friends know what they’re up to.
