    Linux on the desktop is dependent on usability… 1% is the core who can use somthing which is hard to use… but Linux is only recently becoming more usable for typical users.

    @TheShowThatSUX Ya, until then I am all windows. I really don’t see anything wrong with windows not to use it anyway. Practically EVERYTHING works with it, unlike linux where you have to screw around with applications to make the stuff work like wine for example. I don’t have time to screw around with stuff like that JUST to make something work on linux.

    @TearsOfWar1 Ya

    I think that is one of the truly valid rubs. We want native support from commercial companies that develop thing like games, services, and so on.

    @experimental0000 I used linux and I wouldn’t say that only smart people use it… The support for linux is kinda shit though. Wine gets pretty fucking annoying after awhile.

    @kad3t Be careful about the “virus free” LInux is inherently more secure but not immune. And there are security exploits for Linux boxes jut like for windows and OS X

    @TheShowThatSUX yes, and that’s what I thought but I wanted to ask as it looks like it works really well and the quality seems to be really good. highlight of my week

    @experimental0000 Well the market share is not all that tiny in fact it is large than some markets that are catered to

    I believe that it is a conspiracy against Linux to try and shoot it down before it can become a major competitor in the OS market against Microsoft and Apple. Not to mention the Linux haters trying to add fuel to that fire. I don’t think MS and Apple team up to keep Linux out but it is like the anti- Open Office vid on Microsoft’s website. I’ve seen the ‘linux is dead on the desktop’ on places like PCWorld. I guess just smart people use Linux and the tiny share on the market shows it

    I agree completely! Linux have matured a lot, as in it is *usable* by a non-geek user now with ease. I’ve installed Linux on my parents computers about a year ago and they have absolutely no problems with using those. My mother used to be all windows and my father have not used computer since C64 times. Both are quite proficient in using they’re installations to what they needs are – OO documents, Internet & Mail. They don’t play games, so Linux is perfect cause it’s easy (now) and virus free.

    Linux will get plenty of market share when it becomes less fragmented. The only reason android continues to sell in it’s current state is because of it’s market saturation.
